Campus Ministry

2009 Campus Ministry Calendar

The purpose of Campus Ministry at St. Thomas is to ensure that the young men who are entrusted to our care receive the opportunity for daily spiritual formation and growth.

Campus Ministry at St. Thomas includes:

  • A comprehensive 4 year Christian Service program
  • Mandatory student retreats
  • Daily mass
  • All-school liturgies once a month
  • Peer ministry
  • Liturgy team and music ministry
  • Respect Life Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes student organizations

CHRISTIAN SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAM

All students are obligated to successfully complete the school service requirements during their four years at St. Thomas. Currently our freshmen are required to volunteer at least 15 hours during their freshman year. Each year students must meet the service requirement in order to receive credit in Theology. Most students will serve in excess of 100 hours of service by the time they graduate.

RETREAT PROGRAM

All underclassmen are required to attend one retreat each year. For seniors, retreat is optional. Currently there are three freshman retreats offered during the fall Semester. Each retreat is held at the Holy Name Retreat Center in Bunker Hill. The Freshman Retreat is a one-day retreat related to the theme of Character and Moral Decision Making. Sophomore Retreat is a one-day service retreat. Junior Retreat is an overnight retreat at the Christian Renewal Center in Dickinson.

SACRAMENTAL MINISTRIES

  • Daily Mass is celebrated prior to school in our school chapel
  • The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered weekly and by appointment
  • Monthly mandatory all-school student liturgy
  • Yearly we offer Benediction and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
  • Reconciliation is available on most student retreats
  • Lenten Reconciliation Service
  • School Chapel is open to students for silent prayer during all school hours
  • Thanksgiving, Advent, Lenten prayer services and liturgies
