1900


Founding of St. Thomas High School

STH was established by the Basilian Fathers in Houston, Texas, originally located on Franklin Avenue in downtown Houston.

1923


Relocation to Memorial Drive

The school relocated to its current location at 4500 Memorial Drive, providing a more spacious and modern campus for its growing student body.

1932


Expansion of Facilities

The school expanded its facilities to accommodate an increasing number of students and to include more modern educational resources.

1941-1945


World War II and STH

Many students and alumni served in the military during World War II. The war effort influenced the school community, with programs supporting the troops and war-related curriculum developments.

1954


New Gymnasium and Athletic Programs

STH opened a new gymnasium, significantly expanding its athletic programs and facilities, which became central to the school’s identity.

1960


Advanced Placement (AP) Programs

STH became one of the first schools in Houston to offer AP programs, providing students with advanced academic opportunities.

1970


Integration of Minority Students

STH began actively recruiting and integrating minority students, reflecting the broader civil rights movements in the U.S.

1980


80th Anniversary

The school celebrated its 80th anniversary with a series of events that highlighted its contributions to the Houston community and its educational achievements.

Technological Advancements

STH introduced computer labs and began integrating technology into the curriculum, preparing students for the digital age.

100th Anniversary

The school celebrated its centennial with a large community event, reflecting on its rich history and looking toward future growth.

New Science and Technology Building

A state-of-the-art Science and Technology Building was opened, further enhancing the school’s focus on STEM education.

2020


Adaptation to COVID-19 Pandemic

STH transitioned to hybrid learning models, implementing rigorous health and safety protocols to continue educating students during the global pandemic.

125th Anniversary

St. Thomas High School celebrates its 125th anniversary, highlighting its long-standing tradition of excellence in education and its plans for future expansion and development.

Limited Edition Merch

Merchandise will be offered through a 3-month presale cycle. Orders placed during each cycle will be processed and shipped at the end of the three months. For example, orders placed between January and March will be fulfilled and shipped at the end of March or the beginning of April.
