‘Tis the season for music and celebration, friendship and camaraderie … and to appreciate the acclaimed and versatile talents of our Eagle performers. Assistant dean of students Fr. Jim Murphy, CSB shares his excitement for the wide ranging repertoire and arrangements from the annual Christmas Concert.
Each year, the St. Thomas community is blessed to enter the Advent season with music performed by our Music Department. Properly reminding us of the joyful awaiting of the arrival of Christ in our lives, the St. Thomas Singers, Concert Band, String Ensemble, and soloists filled Cemo Auditorium with the sounds of the season.
Two of my personal favorites … ‘Still, Still, Still,’ and ‘The Holly and the Ivy’ … quickly transport me back to Christmas concerts of my youth. The music from ‘The Nutcracker’ had many in attendance ready to dance in the aisles.
On behalf of the Basilian Fathers I would like to thank band director Donald Thoede and choral director Joshua Wilson for their care and guidance of our student performers. I know that the many families and friends who attended the concert were grateful for their efforts. As well, I wish to thank each and every students who contributed to the success of the concert and for all the music you have helped to create throughout the semester.
May the Peace of the season come to us all as we approach the final days of the semester and the approaching exams.
