Eagle Basketball broke out of the halftime with a 15-3 spurt with Elliott aggressive attacking the rim. He fueled a 19-8 third-period blast with Kopp draining a late jumper off his own offensive rebound for the largest margin of the game at 48-36.
The Eagles managed only one field goal in the final stanza, a driving left-to-right fast break drive from Maddox Kopp ‘21, but delivered a clutch 10-11 stretch at the foul line to close out their third consecutive victory, raising the second-place record in 6A District 4 to 5-1 and 18-9 for the season in the first campaign with head coach Gary Hall.
Anderson Kopp’s 15 first-half points with no other Eagle scoring more than four kept St. Thomas within range. He converted a pair of close-range physical and-one buckets plus two free throws at :17 to tie the game at 29-29.
