St. Thomas High School is proud to announce that a record six of our students were selected to the 2020 TPSMEA (Texas Private School Music Educators Association) All-State choir. Congratulations to Leo Wilson (’21), Noah Mims (’21), Charles Boutte (’20), Raphael Mamaradlo (’21), Leonardo Morales (’21), and James Dickinson (’23).
On November 11, nine members of the St. Thomas Singers, advanced to All-Region and competed in the Texas Private Schools Music Educators Association All-State Choir contest. All members competed against private schools across the state of Texas with recorded auditions that were ranked by a panel of five judges.
Making the All-State Choir for the first time this year are:
- Senior Charles Boutté, Bass 2,
- Junior Raphael Mamaradlo, Tenor 1
- Junior Leonardo Morales, Tenor 2
- Freshman James Dickinson, Tenor 1
Selected All-State for his third consecutive year, Junior Leo Wilson will perform in the Bass 2 section, and for his second year in a row, Junior Noah Mims made the choir as a Bass 1.
“I am very proud of the hard work that these singers have put in to making the TPSMEA All-State Choir. It’s a privilege to teach students with their talent, but they wouldn’t achieve this success without long hours of practice and dedication to learning their music,” said Joshua Wilson, Fine Arts teacher.
Moving forward, these students are scheduled to perform in the All-State Choir Concert held at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson, Texas, on January 25, 2020, conducted by Dr. Pamela Elrod Huffman of Southern Methodist University.
