Basketball

The Eagles have a 13-9 record so far this season. Their standing secures them as the top team in District 4 of the TAPPS Varsity 6A division. Senior point guard Evan Levy holds the highest assists per game average with 3.5 and second leading scorer on the team with 13.2, just behind senior guard Caleb Kimble boasting 13.8. Senior post Drin Tafilaj leads the Eagles in field goal percentages with 58 and in rebounds per game (7.1).

St. Thomas basketball has a packed schedule throughout the remainder of the season, with face-offs against rival St. Pius X on January 17th and February 4th. Their TAPPS playoffs begin February 15th with Bi-District and continue through the month, into early March. The TAPPS Basketball State Champions will be crowned on March 1st.

Soccer

 

Led by head coach Kenny Martin, St. Thomas varsity soccer is off to their best start in a decade, with an 10-1-1 record on the season. Sophomore Titi Labarthe and senior Mambo Tello lead the pack in goals, with 13 and 11 respectively. Labarthe also leads the Eagles in assists with seven, followed by senior Trent Culver with six.

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, the Eagles will soon face rival St. Pius X on January 21st at Granger Stadium before TAPPS playoffs begin on February 20th with Bi-District. The TAPPS Soccer State Tournament is scheduled for March 6th-7th.

Swimming

At the Battle for the Crown Invitational early this winter sports season, the aquatic Eagles placed 1st overall out of 15 TAPPS and SPC teams with 309 points. Their decisive win scored 117 points over the second place finishing team. Seniors Zachary Haine (500 yard freestyle) and Owen Sweeney (50 and 100 yard freestyle) each earned first place in their respective events.

More recently, on January 6th, STH Swimming placed 3rd out of 23 teams at the HCYA TISCA Championship Meet. The Eagles boasted eight top 10 finishes across all individual events, with key swims from Haine (4th Place 500 yard freestyle & 6th place 200 yard freestyle), junior Luke Orr (6th place 200 yard individual medley & 8th place 100 yard freestyle), and Sweeney (6th place 50 yard freestyle).

Wrestling

St. Thomas Wrestling is currently ranked #2 by TexasWrestling, led by head coach Michael LeHolm and returning state champions Roberto Pacini and Italo Chavarria-Mendez.

Most recently, the Eagles finished 8th of 31 teams at the Chicken Wing Classic at Westside High School, with outstanding performances across the board:
