Seniors Peter Bryant, Everett Denson, Robert Pacini, Michael Richards, and Evan Wagner have received the honor of National Merit Scholar Finalist.
“We are beyond proud of our five outstanding young men who have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists,” Director of Counseling Chelette Stephenson said. “These Eagles set the bar high, leading both in and out of the classroom. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish next after STH.”
These National Merit Scholar Finalists represent the mission and values of St. Thomas on a national scale. Over 1.3 million juniors entered the annual contest by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Back on September 11, officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of the 16,000 semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship program. On February 3rd, all five of St. Thomas’ Semi-Finalists received their Finalist status.
The selection of Merit Scholarship winners is now in progress—about 45 percent of the Finalists will receive some form of scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. These recipients will be announced later this spring.
Bryant, Denson, Pacini, Richards, and Wagner all have shown their Eagle pride in the classroom and beyond, in accordance with the Basilian values of goodness, discipline, and knowledge. The St. Thomas community sends all five Finalists heartfelt congratulations for their academic achievements.
