On Tuesday, February 11th, ten St. Thomas student-athletes, surrounded by classmates, family, and friends, committed to play their respective sports at the collegiate level.
In his first varsity start, Jackson Ambrose contributed to a No-Hitter as sophomore catcher stepping in for senior catcher who was not available due to attending the senior retreat. Since that time, he has remained on the varsity baseball team. Head Coach Adam Massiatte says, “He has a bazooka for an arm, great projectability and will compete against some of the best catchers in the country defensively.” Ambrose will be continuing his athletic career at Angelina Junior College.
Jaxon Lanclos is a two way player, 3 year varsity letterman who reaches velocities on the mound up to 90 mph, he projects to be St. Thomas’ starting shortstop, and is one of four Team Captains. He will continue his athletic career at Wharton County Junior College.
Hayden Murphy is a two-time letterman, last year selected Most Valuable Pitcher, and will be big contributor to the pitching staff this 2025 season. The potential for this pitcher is huge as he continues to develop arm strength and pitch ability. Murphy will continue his college career at Antelope Valley College.
According to head coach Adam Massiatte, Basilio Williams is really coming into his own as a player and a young man. He is very committed and dedicated to his craft. He is going to be St. Thomas’ leadoff hitter and Captain in the outfield. This young man’s best baseball is in front of him and Prairie View A&M University is lucky to have him, St. Thomas’ own Number 5.
Damarcus Batiste is a Defensive Back with 114 career tackles, 9 PBUs, and 4 Interceptions as a St. Thomas Eagle. He will continue his career once again as an Eagle as he heads to Morehead, Kentucky to play for the Morehead State Eagles, who play in the NCAA Division 1 FCS and are members of the Pioneer League.
Logan Branting is a Wide Receiver with 58 career receptions for 681 yards and 7 TDs as a St. Thomas Eagle. He prepares to head to Charleston, South Carolina. There he’ll join The Citadel who plays in the NCAA Division 1 FCS and are members of the Southern Football Conference.
John Carr is a Linebacker with 126 career tackles, 8 Tackles for Loss, and 5 QB Hurries as a St. Thomas Eagle. He will continue his career as a Raven as he heads to Atchison, Kansas to play for 2-time National Champion & #3 Ranked Team in the country last season, Benedictine College, who play in the NAIA Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Blake Coogan is a Defensive Back with 84 career tackles, 12 PBUs, and 3 interceptions as a St. Thomas Eagle. He will continue his career in Memphis, Tennessee as he joins NCAA Division 3, Rhodes College Lynx Football and Track & Field programs, who are members of the Southern Athletic Association. As a two-sport athlete at St. Thomas, Blake was recognized in both football and track & field as an all-state recipient.
Elijah Henry is a converted Wide Receiver to Defensive Back who finished with 30 career tackles and 2 interceptions as a St. Thomas Eagle. According to head coach Ray Davis, he truly took control of his recruiting process and earned his offer by doing the work of contacting coaches and sharing his film. Through his work, he helped his teammate earn an offer and now both will get the chance to continue as teammates in college. He will continue his career as an Eagle as he heads to Morehead, Kentucky to play for the Morehead State Eagles, who play in the NCAA Division 1 FCS and are members of the Pioneer League.
Roy Jenkins Thomas is a Quarterback who finishes his four years in high school with over 5,000 yds and 51 Touchdowns. This year, he threw for 1665 yards and 12 touchdowns and will continue his career in Beaumont, Texas as he joins the NCAA Division 1 FCS, Lamar Cardinals who are members of the Southland Conference.
Edward Bocock is a four-year track & field letterman who has officially signed with Rice University. He was named Athlete of the Meet at the state championship two years in a row, leading his team to winning the 2023-2024 state title. He also holds the St. Thomas school record in Triple Jump and competes in a wide range of events, including the 300m hurdles and 4x400m relay. Off the track, Edward excels in the classroom as a four-year honors student, AP Scholar with Honor, and National Merit Recognition recipient. He plans to study Engineering at Rice.
