John Teague ‘19 has earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).

Teague was recognized at a Court of Honor with Troop 1940 in The Woodlands continuing the distinguished legacy of Eagle scholars throughout generations who have reached this milestone accomplishment that is richly respected throughout the United States. He completed his demanding Eagle Scout project that involved collecting, repairing and providing bicycles for refugee elementary school children through FreeWheels Houston.

During Teague’s acclaimed tenure with BSA included extensive camping and challenging high adventure experiences. He participated in Louisiana Swamp Base, a national conservation recreation base through the Atchafalaya Swamp created in 2010, plus two individual treks at Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico, where at age 15 he completed the Rayado Trek backpacking 21 days and more than 200 miles.

After his graduation from St. Thomas, Teague will begin working as a paid summer scout ranger at Philmont before beginning his academic pursuits at St. John’s College in Maryland. Teague received the distinguished four-year merit-based President’s Scholarship in Liberal Arts awarded only to the highest-achieving students.

Teague’s scouting successes is a testament to the BSA values consistent with the Basilian credo of Teach Me Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge, deep dedication to community service, and allegiance to the purpose and goals of Troop 1940.
