St. Thomas is proud to salute Peter Kaul ‘24 for earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).
Kaul continues the thriving legacy of Eagle scholars who have reached this milestone accomplishment that remains richly recognized throughout the United States.
Kaul gained his distinction through Troop 730 and St. Anne Catholic Church while serving various leadership positions, including junior assistant scoutmaster. Prior to Troop 730, Kaul was a member of Troop 112 with the Boy Scouts Transatlantic Council, as well as the Marymount International School, Paris for two years in France. There he backpacked and camped throughout the region, raced land yachts on the beaches in Normandy, and volunteered at the American Cemetery in Paris, placing flags on the graves of the American military dead, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations.
Kaul utilized his already advanced skills and interests in engineering and the environment in completing his challenging service project. He designed and raised valuable funds leading a work crew that installed a sizable and much-needed farm gate at the Houston Arboretum. The crew included Ben Tran ‘24, Bryce Whittaker ‘24, Aaron Blackman ‘24, Kaul, James Sullivan ‘24, and Jack Brown ‘24.
Kaul is also a member of the St. Thomas Chapter of the National Honor Society and student-athlete with Eagle Golf. His older brother Barret Kaul ‘15 was a 2014 state baseball champion at St. Thomas. He completed his scholar-athlete career in 2019 as a team captain with Millsaps College. Barret is now a senior tax consultant with Deloitte Tax after earning his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and his Masters in Taxation and Data Analytics in 2020 from the University of Mississippi.
Kaul’s exemplary scouting success is a testament to a deep dedication to the BSA values of character, citizenship, community service, and allegiance to the purpose and goals of his troop – all consistent with the Basilian credo of Teach Me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge.
Catholic. Basilian. Teaching Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge since 1900.
